It was Danny Kay who called it ‘Copenahogen’ instead of the locally correct ‘COPENHAAGEN’. Another myth bites the dirt! I got to eat a Danish pastry in Denmark….quite accidentally, sitting in front of the famous ‘Tivolli’. I saw that the big “M” had got to this city before me! Thought of the Ugly Duckling who was really a signet.

Artist Talks at STACKHOUSE
To my Fantastic Hosts…
Aarhus and Artist Talks
Crown Prince Frederich of Denmark and me!
Yes, I still can’t believe that I had a visit to STACKHOUSE by the Crown Prince of Denmark! In fact I almost missed it! The arrival was much later than was expected so though I had been waiting by my sculpture, I was now making my way toward the Official Reception. Then suddenly my friend ran up behind me a said get back to your sculpture – he’s on the way! Indeed, his entourage made its way up the hill to chat to me after a long, long way around the circuit of sculptures. I was so excited and nervous that I forgot to say ‘Hello, your Highness’. He did after all introduce himself with ‘Hi, I’m Frederich’. He was very approachable and made interested comments about my sculpture. I was thrilled!! I still am thrilled!! What a great day!
STACKHOUSE set up in Denmark
STACKHOUSE as it was in Australia
This is the image of STACKHOUSE that inspired the Danes to build it in Denmark and include it in Sculpture by the Sea. The problem was going to be how to find similar wood as I made this from recycled Aussie fence palings. They did it and also did an excellent job duplicating it. once I get to Aarhus, I will document STACKHOUSE II as it should be entitled.
If you bulid it…I will come
Timber for STACKHOUSE
They have been very resourceful in finding suitable recycled timber to make STACKHOUSE in Aarhus, Denmark. This choice is very near the original recycled fence palings used in the Australian counterpart. I Hope there is enough timber. It is deceptive how much wood is actually needed. I am worried that in the in the spirit of the Goon Show…’You can’t get the wood, you know.’
I am excited to see how the project develops!
HOUSEPET
Perception is everything
Very interesting. ‘A sense of control’…in other words, not feeling that you are a victim of your circumstances IS very important. I heard someone say…’No choice? There is ALWAYS another choice.’ Though these choices are/ may seem worse than the current situation. If that is at least admitted, everything by comparison improves. ‘The idea of ‘The Sweet Spot’ was used earlier by Steiner, though framed slightly differently. People who ‘think’ come up with ideas about how and why society works. Whether these ideas take hold or become influential is largely out of their hands. But others revisit them in their own way.

FOURTH WEEK OF LENT -SATURDAY
4th week of Lent, Saturday – Look at your surroundings. Think how what you see – naturally existing or otherwise – has needed warmth or heat to come into existence. This element has been the catalyst for change. What has been the fire in your life? What moments in your life defined you? Without considering this as good or bad, thank God for this change and submit to this as part of who you are now…. Let your mind settle and relax.
